Learjet 45 in Jandakot

The pride of Singapore Flying College, the Learjet 45, made an overnight stop at Jandakot after bringing in the VIPs from Maroochydore, Brisbane. It is every pilot's dream to fly this advance and sophisticated jet. Priced at USD8 million a piece, this exclusive jet is used primarily as luxury jet for the riches. Even though every SFC cadets will get the chance to fly this jet in the Learjet phase, the jet's presence here still attracted a lot of attention. After all, it is rare for this jet to make a visit here since it is based in Brisbane.

I got out early and waited for the jet at the spotting area. Before the jet arrived, i took some pictures of planes nearby. Our neighbor, the China Southern Flying College operates the Citation, Grob and Piper. Other exotic aircrafts in the area are the Nanchang WW2 fighter planes and the 1000hp Dromader.

Finally, the Learjet 45 arrived and made a perfect touchdown in Jandakot. Many cadets took the oppurtunity to take a closer look at the jet and also to take photos. I managed to sneak into the jet to have a look at the cockpit as well as to have a feel, sitting on the luxury seat of the 8million jet.

Jandakot Control Tower

Had a visit to Jandakot control tower recently. The air traffic controllers there are a bunch of amazing people. Their brains work amazingly because they can control and visualize more than 10 planes flying in 3-dimensional view. With quick and accurate thinking, they can give instructions and guide pilots to fly safely around the airport. And they have sharp eagle eyes as well. They can spot a plane far away without using binoculars. The visit was very meaningful as we discussed ways that can help to improve communications between the air traffic controllers and pilots.

CNY in Perth

It is sad that we couldn't celebrate Chinese New Year with our families this year. But what we can get here is at least a proper chinese dinner. So we decided to drive out to Chinatown on the eve of CNY. We went to a famous roasted duck restaurant for our dinner. The dishes were so delicious especially the roasted duck. We couldn't resist and ordered another plate of roasted duck after the first one. With 4 of us eating so much, I could hardly walk after that dinner.

On the first day of CNY, as usual we went to the beach. This time, we headed to Cottesloe beach. It was on the weekend and the beach was packed with people. I had a good time in the water and also getting a tan. While we were there, a plane flew above us with a banner. The banner was actually a marriage proposal. That was sweet. I bet that girl will be very touched with such interesting proposal.

On that same day, we went to Fremantle for our dinner. This place is famed for its fish and chips. We dined at this restaurant called Cicerellos next to the docks where all the fishermen's boats and yatchs are docked. I had the best and freshest fish and chips in my whole life while enjoying the sunset.
