Rihanna's Sequel: Good Boys Gone Wild

Good boys gone wild, the Jandakot way. We have prepared the best, most enjoyable and the wackiest welcoming party for new batch boys of Course 126 to Jandakot. It wasn't about drinking to get drunk nor ragging the juniors. It was all about everyone having fun, to participate and to break the ice. Managed to discover hidden talents among them like the "Great Sucker", "Strawman" and the "Inverted Slut". Few pairs of long lost "twins" and "brothers" were reunited too. That was definitely the best welcoming party of all time in Jandakot history. C121 and 126 rocks. Big thanks going out for C125 too for the assistance.

BBQ at Scotty's

A simple BBQ gathering at Scotty's house to celebrate all those who have passed the flight progress tests. Also as an appreciation for all the flying guidances from Scott. Main star of the night was cute little Nicholas. Not forgetting the delicious potato pie and desserts baked by Anita. Everyone had a wonderful time; cracking jokes and stories. But felt a little guilty for staying a bit too late. Not a common sight to see an Aussie home well lit and with guests till near midnight.

Moonlight Sonata

The night is quiet, the wind blows gently;
The sky is dark, with the moon and stars shining brightly;
The land below, is lit up like a giant christmas tree;
Waltzing to the rhythm of Moonlight Sonata;
It's a paradise up here, the feeling of being so free;
And that's the joy of night flying.

P2 check: Cleared

Exactly 3 months after my P1, I was up again for a flight check on the 9th Sep. This time, it was a check to determine my competency in visual navigation flying. I had waited 2 weeks just for this and valuable time was lost due to this no flying period. I flew with Andrew Spencer and he was such a nice instructor to fly with. Very professional and chill out guy; as he let me fly my plane with minimum distraction and interference. All decisions rested solely on me as if I'm the captain of the plane. The lucky plane this time was VH-BZX; relatively the newest and best handling plane in the flying college. Now that I have passed the check, I'm in Phase 3 now where most of the instrument flyings are done. It can be termed as IFR flight or in layman's term "blind man flying". Flights are done under the hood or in the clouds with reliance on the instruments.

Perth City to Surf

Perth City to Surf run was held last week. It was a run from the heart of the city to the beach. I was registered in the wrong category of 12km run, instead of my choice of 4km walk. This run turned out to be the longest run in my life; with the fact that I'm not even a runner or have any training. The run was flagged off from the city with a sea of people numbering close to 30,000 filling up the whole 2km stretch from the starting line. That was a sight to behold, to see so many people and the spirit they carried with them. Unfortunately the event was lashed with thunderstorm rain and strong winds. At certain point in the race, it was really difficult to keep up due to large raindrops splattering on the face coupled with strong cold winds. I managed to cross the finishing line without any incident with a time of 86 minutes. That was off the mark of 60-70 minutes for my category. Nevertheless, I'm proud that I have finished the race and am now 12km certified.

King's Park, Perth

One fine weekend, I went up to King's Park, overlooking Swan River and Perth city. The views up there are breathtaking, just perfect for my photography session. After sunset, I headed over to Mill Point Road which is on the other side of Swan riverbank. From there, one can see the lit-up city being reflected on the water.

Badminton in WA

Introducing Team Jandakot aka SFC. Team members comprise of Timothy, Nicky, Leroy and Hoongji. In our first Western Australia Badminton baddy tourney 2 months ago, we were beaten up pretty badly and came in last. In our second attempt few weeks ago, history was about to repeat in the early games. But we fought our way back and some of us endured cramps till the end of the game. We managed to secure runnersup spot after the brilliant fight back. Congrats and kudos to all team members.
